First Grade - Hooray!
- This year I begin my twenty-eighth year as a first grade teacher at Hamilton Central School. Over the years my philosophy and approach to teaching has evolved. This evolution stems from participation in staff development with the PEBC in Denver Colorado, continued learning with the Reading and Writing Project, and collaboration with colleagues. I feel fortunate to work in a district with such a strong commitment to professional growth.
- Within the classroom, I hope that students feel accepted, nurtured, and challenged in an authentic learning environment. We make our thinking and learning visible through inquiry, collaboration, and investigation, charting the learning journey along the way. I hope that our classroom environment has the ability to allow students to build the capacity to take risks, to be passionate learners and become agents of change.
- When I am not at school, I enjoy scouring estate and yard sales with my sister in search of vintage items. I also love gardening, reading, and time with my family. We love our life in Hamilton!
